CableLabs Honored with Technology & Engineering Emmy® Award for Pioneering Standardization of VOD Asset Metadata Distribution

CableLabs is being honored with a Technology & Engineering Emmy Award for creating an important suite of specifications that enable video-on-demand (VOD) services. First introduced more than two decades ago, the Asset Distribution Interface v1.1, VOD Content v1.1, and Content Encoding Profiles v3.0 specifications established a common framework for encoding, packaging and distributing video assets and metadata. These pioneering specifications ensure that movies, TV episodes, trailers, captions, images, rights information, and promotional materials can be uniformly and cost-effectively shared between content providers and VOD distributors and are still in use today.
